U.S. Beats Argentina in Olympic Semifinals
The United States men’s basketball team will face Spain on Sunday for the Olympic gold medal after defeating Argentina in the semifinals 101-81.
“We had a great game against them in pool play, but pool play does not win a gold medal,” U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “It just gets you into the medal round. We expect the same type of heart of a champion that we played against tonight in Argentina.”
With their success so far in the olympics, the U.S. squad is very confident.
“We still have one more test to go, but I think our team is extremely confident,” point guard Chris Paul said.
Hopefully they’re not over-confident because even though the Americans destroyed Spain in pool play by 37 points, this time Spain will be more prepared and ready for the the dominant U.S. team.
