Bantamweight Gary Russell Jr. was found found unconscious and dehydrated after struggling to make the 119 pound weight limit.

“We became alarmed a couple of days ago when we saw he wasn’t sweating like he should,” U.S. Boxing coach Dan Campbell said. “When these kids try to make weight, sometimes they cut corners. What we believe is he did not increase his fluid intake after we told him to.”

Supposedly Gary Russell Jr. had a great chance at a gold medal but now we’ll never know. If you like Olympic boxing be sure to watch American flyweight Rau’shee Warren and Welterweight Demetrius Andrade — they’re our best chance at bringing home the gold in boxing now.
