The United States men’s basketball team won their first gold medal since the 2000 Sydney Olympics by defeating Spain 118-107.

“Much respect to Spain, but the U.S. is back on top again,” LeBron James said

With less than 2 1/2 minutes left to play in the game the Americans only held a 4-point lead over Spain but in the final 2 minutes the USA fought hard for the victory.

“I know that we had a tough road ahead of us. We knew that these guys weren’t going to roll over and give up that easily,” U.S. forward Chris Bosh said. “So we had to be men, and that’s what it takes to win.”

U.S. head coach Mike Krzyzewski deserves most of the credit for putting together a good team with great chemistry.
