The American softball team will have to settle for the silver medal after they were upset by Japan 3-1.

“I told [the team] I was proud of them,” U.S. coach Mike Candrea said. “We had one hell of a run. I almost wish we had lost a game early on. Then, this wouldn’t hurt so much.”

Before this game, the Americans hadn’t lost since Sept. 21, 2000, in Sydney. This has to be the biggest upset of the Beijing olympics so far.
