U.S. Women Beat South Korea; Advance to Semifinals
The United States women’s basketball team routed South Korea 104-60 and will face the either Russia or Spain in the Olympic semifinals on Thursday night.
Sylvia Fowles led the U.S. against South Korea with 26 points and 14 rebounds.
“I just wanted to come out and make a statement that I’m back and let my teammates know,” Fowles said. “I haven’t played well since the first two games and I’ve been down on myself not contributing as much as I’d like.”
The rest of the team definitely recognized Fowles’ contributions on the court.
“She was dominant tonight,” said Kara Lawson, who had 11 points for the Americans “It’s hard to remember that she missed six weeks with that knee injury.”
