tedy bruschi may retire after 2009

36-year-old Tedy Bruschi is entering his 14th, and possibly last, season in the National Football League, but the former Pro Bowler won’t make a final decision until after the 2009 season.

“After you get past 10 [NFL seasons] I think that’s the way you have to do it because you never know what’s going to happen within a year. You just don’t,” Bruschi said. “So when the season’s over, you sort of reassess things and that’s how it’s going to go again.”

When he does finally call it quits, he hopes to pursue coaching.

“I know I can coach,” Bruschi said. “I know the game. I’ve been in it so long, it’s just going to be a matter of what I do when I’m done [playing]. So I don’t know. It’s a passion of mine. I love football. I know I want to be in it. Let’s just see what I’ll be doing.”

Some may disagree but I believe Bruschi should eventually make it into the hall of fame. He has been a great linebacker and a great guy to root for throughout his time in the NFL. When he finally decides retire, we will wish him nothing but the best.
