Will Ray Rice Start Over Willis McGahee?
Willis McGahee has been hampered by his left knee for pretty much the entire offseason and he’s missed a lot of practice time with the Baltimore Ravens so the team may be forced to start their rookie Ray Rice, who has done very well in the preseason.
“When you’ve got Ray Rice out there practicing and you don’t have McGahee, that’s what you do,” first year head coach John Harbaugh said. “That’s what you become. So, Willis is a bonus in my mind because he hasn’t been practicing anyway. If he gets out there, it’s going to be great. We’ve got to go play on Sunday with the guys we’ve got and we plan on playing very well.”
If Rice starts and plays well in the Ravens regular season opener, McGahee could find himself sharing carries with the rookie for the rest of his days with Baltimore. From here on out, the Ravens backfield could end up looking very similiar to the Jaguars duo of Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor.
